Joan Magoma (b. 1998, Kenya) is a self-taught contemporary artist based in Kilifi, Kenya. Her unique style is often recognizable for its post modern figurative forms depicted by vibrant and colourful compositions. Her art is deeply influenced by her African heritage and captures the intersections of culture, identity, and personal expression.

Her work explores the richness of the Black experience through intricate portrayals of African women. With bold colors, playful patterns, and layered textures, she creates vibrant pieces that celebrate dignity, resilience, and the beauty of womanhood. Intimate yet empowering, her art honors ancestry, identity, and the collective strength of African women while offering space for reflection, affirmation, and healing.

Painting primarily with acrylic on canvas, Joan works from observation and emotional resonance. In 2023, she exhibited at the Alliance Francaise, Nyali as a guest artist and has featured in ArtExpress, which is an International online platform. She continues to explore art in all its forms and remains open to collaboration opportunities and exhibition programs.
